Spring is already here and before you know it, it will be summer time. Drink water to cut back on unnecessary calories from sugary drinks. Soda, energy drinks, and sports drinks are a major source of added sugar and calories in American diets. To add flavor to your water, add a slice of lemon, lime, apple or fresh herbs like mint or basil. More fruits and vegetables, less sweets. In between meals, a person will often feel hungry. Reach for the healthy stuff. Snack on an apple or celery stick instead of a bag of chips. Cakes, cookies, and chips won’t curb your hunger. Even though you are eating well and exercising, you may reach a plateau where your weight stays the same. Plateaus are mainly due to decreased resting energy expenditure (REE).
